Your data holds the story of your fire department.

I can help you bring it to life

My name is Laura Robinson, and I have a passion for helping fire departments understand their positive impacts on the community, and find where there may be room for improvement. I would love to bring clarity to how your department is performing and help you prepare for the future.

Your fire department is a complex system built to provide the best service to your community. Your leadership knows the ins and outs of operations, safety, and training and can react to each challenge in the moment.

You excel at handling the here and now. How well are you planning for the future? Are you prepared for the population growth that is bound to happen? Do you know where you struggle to meet your effective response force?

I have nearly 15 years of experience as a GIS and data analyst in the fire service. Over these years, I have analyzed and determined the locations for ten future fire stations, shown the need for alternative response units and where they would be most effective, and shed light on performance gaps across service areas.

I understand the complexity of deployment, risk management, and planning. With this knowledge, I can help leadership make data-informed decisions.

Are you, or do you want to be accredited by CFAI? I can help with the complex data needs for accreditation. I have extensive experience building Community Risk Reduction Standards of Coverage documents and know how valuable they can be to an organization.

I once worked on a project that calculated travel times across a fire district to show how long it took for units to reach all parts of the district. There was a neighborhood that stood out as having poor travel time in an area that was otherwise good. I was intrigued by this island of poor travel times. After investigating the area I found there was only one way in and out of the neighborhood, but there was a locked gate on the opposite end.

Once I modified the data to allow entry through the gate, travel times decreased substantially. The fire department was armed with the information they needed to make a small change that dramatically reduced response times.

Do you know where the coverage gaps are in your district? I would love to help you find them
